Billy Goat Not-So-Gruff

Only two guesses? Well, despite the low turnout in comments below, I will still post the picture of the animals I'd like to have in my big backyard: these itty bitty goats.

I don't know much about them, but they always catch my eye when I see them. I have no idea if they are of the pygmy or the dwarf variety, so I need to do some research. They're just so cute (to me) in person, and they seem very useful in supplying milk, meat, and hair (for yarn) to many families around the world. Having a goat doesn't seem like a baa-aa-aad idea, right?

This one was, by far, the friendliest. He came up right up to the fence to make friends (or beg for food.)

I'd also like to have chickens, one (or more) of these huge Flemish Giant rabbits, and a chinchilla (inside, of course.)

Sorry I ddn't stop by to visit yesterday. I would love to have a horse, one of those rabbits sound cool, and I like goats too.

Next door to the church we have a guy who has a mule and a bunch of goats, and the little ones at our church always beg for me to take them out to see the animals. Sometimes the owner comes out and brings feed for the girls to feed them, and will catch one so they can pet it. Lots of fun.

Aw! I luv goats..........should of guessed that was what you wanted.

You know, goats make great companions for horses. Many racehorses have a goat buddy. They are easy to move and low on cost. Usually they sleep right in the horses stall w/ them.
Sorry.........you know me, I gotta put something horsey in! lol.

You always did like goats. When you were little and we visited Grants Farm, you could not stay away from the goats. They were always climbing on the fences and interested in what we would give them to eat. I like them too and I think it's because they stay somewhat little. There are larger varieties, but the pygmy stay small and look so cute. Mom

MOM! Thanks for stopping by to make a comment. I really appreciate it. I do remember our first visit to Grant's Farm... and have loved every visit since. Maybe I can have some someday so you can come see them anytime you'd like!

Showjumper, you crack me up! Of course, I knew you'd want a horse, but I didn't know about the goat horse connection. I would love to have horses someday too... but they seem like so much work. Maybe not. We'll have to have a long talk about this next time we see each other!

Dani: Your memories made me think back to the cows that used to graze in a field right next to the church we attended when I was small. We used to feed them treats too. I've always like donkeys and mules too - especially after spending so much time with the "begging burros" that our family saw on our trip out to Yellowstone. I remember that we were allowed to feed them a little food... and they were very interested - too interested - in our Teddy Grahams!

Aww! Goats and rabbits are cute! I am not so sure about that chinchilla with the beady, little eyes.

I don't see one thing wrong with their eyes. They look cute to me. Guess this is just another example for the "eye of the beholder."
